here is a basic run down of the plot without giving too much away even if most people have seen it now.
A basic summary of the plot:
A man called Andy Dufresene (Tim Robbins) is arrested and charged for the murder of his wife and her lover. A crime he states he did not commit and that someone else did. Andy is found guilty and sentenced at Shawshank prison and given two life sentences one for each of the victims. Once inside he meets a man named Red (Morgan Freeman) A man "who knows how to get things." Andy also meets the man who runs Shawshank Warden Samuel Norton (Bob Gunton) and Brutal Chief guard Byron Hadley (Clancy Brown.) As the years go by Andy gets more and more despite to escape. Andy cuts a deal with the Warden as Andy is quite smart and uses it to his advantage.
My thoughts:
This film was stunning to see and very enjoyable. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are cast superbly for Andy and Red. The pay off near the end is brilliant.
This film also gave us one off the top 100 lines in film history "Get busy livin,' or get busy dyin." I really enjoyed watching this film and should watch a few more Steven King adaptations, like the Shinning (1980).
Which again is on my list of films to watch. I just need to find a copy. If anyone has a copy of the Shinning please let me borrow it.
Favourite line:
Does it have to be said.
"Get busy livin,' or get busy dyin"
Favourite scene:
This whole scene in it's entity. Andy and the gang overhears Byron Hadley and talking about money issues and his wife with some other guards, Andy then approaches them and gives Byron a proposal this nearly gets him thrown off the roof. But it works out and they are allowed to drink on the roof the next time they are up there. Totally bad-ass. That is why it's my Favourite scenes in the film.
